Melissa A. Piktel (nee Nelson) of Zion, IL, 41, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012 after a long illness. Born in Waukegan, she remained an area resident her entire life. Melissa was a member of The Women of the Moose Lodge #859 in Zion, and also The Gurnee American Legion Aux. Post 771.

She is survived by her husband, James of 15 years, one son; James Jr, and one daughter; Jessica, two brothers; Richard Jr, and Kevin Nelson,two sisters; Kris and Leslie Nelson, and her parents ; Dick and Nancy Nelson and many other extended family members. She will be dearly missed by all.

The funeral service will be on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Rev. James Merold will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
